Here's what you'll need to make your own free cherry blossom branches: branch or twigs, tissue paper, circle punch, hot glue gun and pencil or paintbrush end (not shown)
Begin by punching a lot of circles out of the tissue paper.
Fold each circle into quarters.
Cut a notch out of the curve. This part isn't necessary, but it does give the blossoms a more "flowery" look.
Unfold the circles and twist around the end of a pencil or paint brush.
Make a whole lot of these. Enlist a cute little helper if you have to ;-) This is a great craft for the kiddos to help you with.
Place a dot of hot glue on the end of a "blossom" and adhere it to the branch. Repeat until you have filled in the branches to your liking.
You can make these as full as you want them. I kept mine somewhat sparse.
I'm so excited to use these in my entryway vignette for spring. I'm still working putting it all together, but I couldn't wait to show you the cherry blossom branches. I love how they turned out, such a delicate element to add in with some spring decorations. When I'm ready to move on to summer, I don't even have to store these branches. They are completely disposable, without any guilt associated with having spent money on them.
Have you started your spring decorating yet? Or are you still battling the winter elements? If you're having the winter blues, go grab some branches, tissue paper and a glue gun. You're bound to feel better after making up your own cherry blossom branches. Thanks for spending part of your day with me! I love your visits.
I'm linking up at some of these great parties and

They seriously look like cherry blossoms. What a creative idea!

ReplyDeleteI live in a city full of Cherry Blossoms in the spring and it is very difficult to catch the blossoms at just the right time for a blog or entertaining. The fake ones at Michael's or other places like that are horrible and never the right color. These are great and I do plan to steal your idea some time. Thanks for sharing!!!
